In reference to an article in NYTimes Magazine: Euthanasia for Babies

My Mum would say this is the Devil’s doing. Literally, she said something I thought was rather ignorant stating that someone blasting their music while a church is gathering for a meeting on a Saturday was disrespectful and the devils work. I was rather disgusted really, I’m a Liberal Democrat that is Morally* Conservative. Obviously with the way I was raised. And I didn’t appreciate her vicious words, words that only cause more violence and hatred.

However, this article takes no real sides so please remember that. But it opens a can of worms, thats for sure, and informs the public.

When I think of death in a medical ailment sense, I think of resources. What is available in my area of the world? What can we afford to do? What are the alternative treatments out there if I cannot afford this method? Can I hope to be healed by using a grassroots approach? Simple things like this makes all the difference with what we’re going through when it comes to any medical condition whether it be a baby, child, teen or a grown adult.

American Samoa, to my knowledge, doesn’t have cardiologist. A person would have to go to Hawaii, New Zealand/Australia or neighboring Samoa to be treated. Samoa has a 2-4 week waiting list if you want to actually see the cardiologist though. You would go to Hawaii and abroad if you could afford the trip and the hospital costs.

Generally there are cases where a person fights through and can live longer than all the doctors said they could, like Aunty Pele Langkilde. Then there are some cases where they cannot survive that long.

Overall, it’s a matter of how much can you do with what your given and how far are you willing to go to help? My religious view on this, judgement day will reveal whether your actions were helpful or not, the end.

Morally: I still believe in the fact that I want to be married before I have kids (I Hope that is) and the simple standards of Fa’asamoa along with Manners that are supposed to be taught to people when their young to properly function in a peaceful society.

Very insightful post by @petervandever IMO some palagi’s are cool where others just need to leave right along with whoever their mistress is, there was a time when Palagi’s were somewhat cool. It’s weeding through those who are to ignorant to care like Fez Jr. or Fez (work reference) but overall it takes a humble person to understand Fa’asamoa. Talking in the phone with mum the other day we were discussing where she misplaced doc file was on her computer. I made an errand comment asking if she could highlight her folders in colors to make it easier to find them? Her reply was no she cannot. Of course then I had to respond that maybe she should just a Mac give away her Sony vaio all in one and get an iMac instead because file organizing is soo much easier to find and to put stuff where they belong.

She was not amused but that’s okay because its bad enough she has an iPad and an iPhone and soon I’m going to eventually replace her and dads old dell pc with a Mac mini

My brother Doug has been asked to be ASCC’s Dj during events they have, he was telling me that he’ll have to use my laptop during those days. I responded with that’s fine, because it is, but I explained that I’m going to need a calendar and weeks notice in advance. He starts a yelling ramble of “WHAT!!!!! You have an iMac at work why do you need a your macbook, ipad AND NOW a Sony Vaio? Why do you need all those laptops for?” With that he got up and went to the back with Mums iPad.

The fact that we had to go through all that and then he spasmed out on me was really funny I wish I could’ve gotten it on tape.
